Description
Alt text: A vintage cartoon postcard titled "The Suffragette" at the top plays on the theme of role reversal. A woman in a green dress is shown on bended knee, one hand on heart and the other hand raised, apparently proposing to a man in a dark suit who is standing to the left. He is shown smoking a pipe while striking a feminine pose and displaying some feminine characteristics, such as having a bow in his hair, long eyelashes, and earrings. He is smiling and has a finger to his mouth in a sheepish fashion. A caption below the image reads: "Every year will be leap year soon enough." The bottom border has the text, "Copyright 1909 by Walter Wellman. Number 4010." An elaborate artist's signature is near the illustration to the left. A band below the postcard has the text "Palczewski Suffrage Postcard Archive."
