Odonata; Iowa-Cedar River Basin

Abstract

Past and present studies of the Cedar-Iowa River Basin indicate that 82 species of Odonata inhabit the basin. Of the 82 species reported since the tum of the century, 60 species were collected from 1971 -1975; the remaining species were recorded prior to 1920. Two species, Aeshna canadensis Walker and Aeshna interrupta lineata Walker, collected in 1975, represent new records for the state of Iowa. Distribution maps of the 82 species reported within the basin are included.
