Abstract

Dickinson County is in the northernmost tier of counties in the state of Iowa, it being the third county to the east from the western border of the state. It is bounded on the north by Minnesota, west by Osceola Co., south by Clay Co., and east by Emmet Co. It touches O'Brien Co. at the southwest corner, and Palo Alto Co. at the southeast. Just west of Osceola Co. is Lyon Co., the northwestern-most county in the state. The Iowa Lakeside Laboratory on Miller's Bay, West Lake Okoboji, is at 43° 20' N. Latitude, and 95° 7' W. Longitude. The county has an area of 379 square miles. The county seat is Spirit Lake. Other towns are Arnold's Park, Lake Park, Milford, Montgomery, Okoboji, Orleans, Superior, and Terril.
