Abstract
A long series of experiments have been performed in an attempt to learn the effectiveness of lecture demonstration experiments. Large groups of students have been used whose physics intelligence coefficients were known. Part of the group has been used to hear the lecture while the rest were writing an examination over laboratory work in another part of the building. The results are very disquieting for those who have deep faith in the lecture method.
