Abstract

The parasitic fungi have been a subject of continued interest to Iowa botanists from the early collections of Bessey, Halsted and Holway to the present. This interest is evidenced by the large number of specimens deposited in the herbariums of the state and the listing of them in various scientific publications. These lists have been made for special groups such as the Erysiphaceae or for special regions as the list of Wilson for Fayette County, but until the present no attempt has been made to bring together the members of the entire group of Ascomycetes of Iowa into a single publication.
