The Cover: Practically every science has found a need for the valuable knowledge revealed through careful analysis of radiation studies. The opportunity for advanced study in radiation has been offered to these students at Ottumwa high school through the efforts of instructor Bob McDonald. Vickie Robertson and Terry Williamson are shown operating the scalers while testing the effect of shielding materials and distances. Radioactivity and atomic energy are being taught with meaning and better understanding as students are introduced to carefully designed experiments. Use of actual sources, modern detecting devices and adequately trained instructors facilitate learning in this area.
