Abstract
The Iowa Academy of Science has a long and distinguished record of encouraging improvement in science education within Iowa's public and parochial schools. Evidence of this may be seen in its support of the Iowa Junior Academy of Science, The Iowa Science Teachers Journal and various Academy committees having as their major concern the promotion of science education. In past years, the Recognition and Awards Committee of Iowa Academy of Science has functioned to identify outstanding science and mathematics teachers in Iowa.
