About This Journal

This journal has CEASED PUBLICATION. The journal's original name was the International Journal of Global Health, which began in 2001. The publication became known as the International Journal of Global Health and Health Disparities in 2004 with Volume 3, Number 1. Volumes/Issues run from v.1 (2001) to v.6 (2009).

Background

The International Journal of Global Health was a peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to studying public health in diverse and medically underserved populations around the world. The Journal examined the effects of public health education efforts on individuals and populations, as well as methodology for providing effective public health programming.

Global Health Corps

The Global Health Corps was founded in the Division of Health Promotion and Education at the University of Northern Iowa in 1996. The mission of the Global Health Corps is to train university students in conducting culturally appropriate public health programs with underserved and diverse communities in the United States and abroad, thereby improving the well-being of at-risk populations through disease prevention and health promotion.

Division of Health Promotion and Education

Within the School of Health, Physical Education, and Leisure Services at the University of Northern Iowa, the Division of Health Promotion and Education includes a diverse faculty working in various disciplines of public health, epidemiology, and health education. The overriding mission of the Division is to educate health educators, health professionals, and scientists to improve the health and well-being of individuals and populations.
