Abstract
Goal: That writing will increase thoughtfulness, text use and student interaction in speech courses and other performance-based courses.
Speech courses are often so performance-based that students disregard lecture materials in lieu of focusing intently on their speech performances. This classroom exercise and graded course assignment promotes better writing, increases thoughtfulness about the course material, increases text use and requires students to interact (thus producing many more communication opportunities)!
