Abstract
Instructors of organizational communication often use case studies to allow students to observe how theory operates in a "real world" context. Case simulation moves beyond traditional case study use by combining case study with role play over an extended period of time and forcing students to leave the comfortable role of third person observer to become first person participants. This study reports the findings of research conducted to learn if, and more specifically what, students learn from case simulations. The results offer instructors more insight on the value and potential benefit of using case simulations.
