Abstract
Professor Antczak offers a provocative series of twenty-two suggestions for improving the culture of teaching at research universities. These suggestions derive from an ongoing roundtable of faculty at the University of Iowa, and while they may speak to the faculty situation at that particular university, as well, they offer insights of use to those of us in communication study at other research universities. I would like to make a few brief comments about the overall project of enhancing the teaching culture as well as the specific proposals offered here. Most importantly, I wish to highlight an aspect of teaching neglected in Professor Antczak's essay.
