Abstract
As educators, one of our goals must be to inform students of responsible behaviors that will enhance their relationships with others. An important aspect of responsible behavior is the establishment of a personal communication ethic. In a time when politicians regularly change their positions on significant issues, administrators encourage teachers to alter student performance scores on standardized tests, and students consider misrepresenting their experience in order to secure employment, it is important to ask: What are interpersonal communication students being taught about relational ethics? How do ethical considerations shape their interactions with others?
