Abstract
Free media, also called free publicity or pseudo events, is one additional way used by campaign staffs to persuade people that their candidate should be elected. Of course, set speeches, paid media, and press conferences continue as campaign aids. This paper will devote itself to an examination of the role of free media in a political campaign. Further, I will advance the thesis that free media is quite a unique device and lends itself to some of the most exciting and innovative activities performed by a campaign staff. It must be clear that the publicity is to be largely planned by a candidate's staff with a clearly sought goal in mind.
