Abstract
The current educational debate concerning testing centers on the various merits of standardized tests, norm-referenced tests, authentic assessments, and performance-based assessments. The issues include questions of fairness, accountability, relationships between desired outcomes and test results and the concomitant implication for improved teaching strategies and curriculum, validity and reliability; and usefulness for comparison purposes.
