Abstract
Public schools belong to the people whom they serve. To ensure a positive relationship with the community, it is important to develop a philosophical base with a wide variety of publics.
A number of criteria, or tenets, should be included in building and maintaining good community relations. It is important to remember that schools have customers or clients. A customer service orientation results in a focus on meeting the needs of preschool, school-aged, and adult students to build a community of learners.
