Abstract
Each director has her/his own reason for seeking a seat on the board. Perhaps a district conflict brought the person on the board, a particular agenda, or an axe to grind. No matter what the reason, we soon learn, if we don't already know, that as board members conflict is inevitable. For example, conflict may be among board members, between board and certain community members, or between board and district employees. A means of bringing a board together if conflict persists might be a workshop directed at sharpening listening skills, seeking alternative solutions, and stressing the importance of being certain that everyone has the facts before action is taken.
