Abstract
What is the process of making an effective decision? Through my personal experiences facilitating the developmental stages of community building, this position paper will address the elements I believe are necessary in making effective decisions and moving beyond the traditional means of decision making.
Broadening the base of those included in the decision-making process and providing training in collaborate techniques will create a process for making effective decisions.
When making collaborative decisions, diversity within the group is needed for quality decisions. Through the talents and values of people from all conditions of life, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, sexual preference, or disability, we learn to appreciate what each individual can contribute to the group process (Autry, 1991).
