Abstract

There will always be individuals and even teachers who hold less-than-ideal views toward mathematics. However, with continued research and a constant effort toward improvement, math education programs for future teachers can make a positive difference in the mathematical lives of numerous teachers and countless future students. Math education programs must continue to address the negative beliefs pre-service teachers may have acquired and help these future teachers develop more positive, self-empowering beliefs. These beliefs will, in turn, be transmitted through their teaching methods to their students, who will reap the benefits of positive and powerful math beliefs
