Abstract
Reviews the movie ""Before Sunset," directed by Richard Linklater (2004), the sequel to 1995's ""Before Sunrise," in which two college students who meet on a train, spend a momentous night together in Vienna, and promise to meet again. The film plays out in real time-it is basically an 80-minute conversation between the two characters. The film is also an illustration of what one might call a pre-midlife crisis for people in their early 30s, and the concept of ""soul mates"" echoes throughout the film. This film is an interesting look at two people searching for meaning in their lives and trying to find it in each other. Although the romantic hope of finding meaning in another may be impractical, the characters' desires for this to be the case are a much more common phenomenon.
