Summarizes the fundamental propositions of "Campus Life: In Search of Community" from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Points out the most cogent arguments and where the recommendations fail to go far enough, and discusses why it may be wise for the campus community to think anew about principles and recommendations made in the decade-old report.
