This survey gathered information from recent University of Northern Iowa teacher education graduates on attitudes toward aspects of the University's teacher education program; on circumstances leading to employment; and on certain employment conditions. The sample in this survey included elementary; secondary; and "special area" teachers. Elementary included kindergarten through grade six; secondary included grades seven through twelve; and "special area" included art; music; physical education; industrial arts; and library teachers; kindergarten through grade twelve. The survey was designed to gather information on the following topics: (1) perceived competencies as beginning teachers; (2) the associate teaching experience; (3) finding a first teaching position; (4) tasks that may or may not pose problems for beginning teachers; (5) responsibilities perceived to be most challenging; (6) assessment of peers and feedback regarding selected working conditions of teachers; and (7) opinion of the University's continuing education program. Included in this document are responses to openended questions on selected courses and a sample of the questionnaire used in the survey. (JD)
