Abstract

Assuming that the amplitude for η′→ηππ is dominated by scalar resonances and that the 0++ nonet is composed of conventional p-wave qq̄ states with singlet-octet mixing, we obtain predictions for the decay width and Dalitz slope parameter for the decays η′→ηππ and η′→πππ which are in excellent agreement with the latest experimental data. The ππ and ηπ mass spectra for η′→ηππ are also determined and fit the experimental data quite well. Similar calculations for these decays using a qq̄qq̄ description of the 0++ mesons yield results which disagree with experiment. © 1980 The American Physical Society.
