Abstract
In recent years, overall health conditions in Korea seem to be gradually improving along with the relatively rapid growth of the national economy and the continuing efforts of social development. The rural health situation, however, is still far behind that of many other developing nations. The author especially made an attempt not only to describe the maternal health care problems such as mortality, morbidity, and utilization of health care services which exist today in rural communities of South Korea, but also to make suggestions as to the ways of improving the conditions of the health care services. © 1982, Sage Publications.
