Abstract
The study of Leadership embraces three main phases: 1) Trait theories, 2) Style theories, and 3) Situational theories. Each of these positions is reviewed in this paper. It is suggested that leadership is a process of using skills to analyze each situation to determine the appropriate leadership style. Suggestions are given to help the manager with this analysis to develop better leadership skills. © Copyright 1983 Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc.
