Abstract
There is great variety among the twenty-one countries of the Arab World in such aspects of population as distribution, increase, combination of birth rates and death rates, demographic transition, urbanization, dependency ratio, international migration and its effects, the physical quality of life index, and governmental policy regarding population growth. Facile generalizations and presumptions of pervasive homogeneity are suspect, because along the continuum of transition and development the countries of the Arab World are in significantly different stages in a variety of measures. © 1984, Brill.
