Abstract

Many individuals have recently entered the instructional software development field. Frequently these individuals are trained in computer programming and knowledgeable of the subject matter to be delivered by the computer but unskilled in instructional design. The authors address this knowledge deficiency by reviewing instructional design research and theory and relating this information to the design of computer-based instructional materials. Instructional design guidelines are offered to aid software developers in making design decisions on the macro- and micro-levels of instruction. © 1986 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
