Abstract
The crysatallisation due to heat treatment of a binary glass system of the molar composition BaO. 4B//2O//3 was studied by transmission electron microscopy. Phase separation into two immiscible glassy phases was found to take place prior to the ultimate crystallisation of the system. The crystalline phases were identified as boron oxide (B//2O//3) and barium-boron oxide (BaB//2O//4) by both x-ray and electron diffraction techniques.
