Abstract

There are many similarities between a new book, The Economic Challenge of Perestroika, by Abel Aganbegyan, who is introduced by an American publisher as a Chief Economic Adviser to Mikhail Gorbachev, and the latter's Perestroika. New Thinking for Our Country and the World[1]. The main objective of both writings is to justify the need for changes within the Soviet system and explain the nature and direction of the transformation. Both authors are desperate in pursuing their goals, though they are not very sure about a possible outcome of perestroika[2]. © 1989, MCB UP Limited
