Abstract
A series of nickel(II) complexes of Schiff bases obtained by the condensation of 2-hydroxy-3-methylbenzaldehyde and 2,4-dihydroxy-benzaldehyde with glycine, DL-alanine, DL-valine, DL-methionine, L-leucine, and DL-phenylalanine were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, molar electrical conductivities, magnetic moments, infrared spectra, and thermoanalyses. All the complexes were found to be non-electrolytes with the general empirical formula [NiL(H20)2], where L is an amino acid Schiff base ligand. The probable structure of the complexes is suggested. © 1994, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
