Abstract
Permanent mold (PM) casting is a productive and cost-effective method for making a wide range of complex shaped nonferrous and ferrous castings. This article discusses the design of permanent mold cooling systems that accommodate a wide variety of cooling methods used in foundries. The factors that should be considered when choosing a suitable cooling system design are also highlighted.
