Abstract
Two motion pictures present conflicting accounts of how Pluto got its name. For the first time, letters and telegrams are presented that argue for the less-frequently cited version. Published accounts of naming Pluto are compared with the recollections of colleagues who knew Clyde Tombaugh, the last-living person involved in the naming process, with whom the subject was discussed.
