Abstract
This paper reviews the literature on composting process as it impacts the issue of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and global warming. A number of studies are examined which report the emissions of GHGs under differing composting scenarios. The major modeling attempts that could impinge on this issue including models of integrated waste management are discussed. Questions are raised concerning the need for additional research and the development of broadly agreed upon research methods and average values and conditions relative to GHGs and composting practices. © Taylor & Francis.
