Abstract
Developed with an intention of understanding human intelligence, artificial neural networks are having a synergistic effect on all areas of business management. There are about 1000 reports of applications of neural networks in the ABI/Inform database of business journals during the past decade. Development of new theories, fast algorithms and advances in hardware and software implementations of neural networks are primarily responsible for this huge success. It is an appropriate time to analyze all these applications and provide a framework. In this paper, a taxonomy of neural networks based on the type of decision support they Provide is given and representative examples are discussed.
