Abstract
The diffusion transport of a 0.1 M CoCl2 aqueous solution in a number of porous-glass membranes with a prevailing pore radius of rp = 4.5-70 nm was studied over a temperature range of 25-70°C. In all cases, the diffusion coefficients were found to obey the D = D0exp(K s/rp) functional dependence, where D0 is the diffusion coefficient for the bulk solution and Ks is the characteristic-dimension parameter reflecting the degree of structurizing of the liquid layer near a silica surface. At 70°C, Ks is vanishing small, leading to D - D0, in agreement with the concept that temperature rise suppresses the effect of structurization of water near a silica surface.
