Abstract

Are you an audiologist or speech-language pathologist thinking about studying, volunteering, or working abroad? Here are six proven strategies to make your journey easier.

1. Talk to someone in the professions who has been where you want to go.

Benefit from someone's experience: discover how the person did it, and what he or she would do differently on a similar trip. If you do not know anyone who has had such an experience, try posting a message on a discussion board of an international or national association (for a list of audiology and speech-language pathology associations, go to www.comdisinternational.com), asking to hear from persons with experience in that part of the world.
