Abstract
In this paper, the bit-error rate (BER) performance of the differential code-shifted reference (DCSR) transceiver for impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR UWB) systems is analyzed theoretically and validated through computer simulations. Furthermore, a thorough comparison between the DCSR transceiver and the existing transceiver architectures, namely, the transmitted reference, the frequency-shifted reference, and the code-shifted reference transceivers, is carried out. The comparison results show that the DCSR transceiver has the best BER performance and relatively low system complexity among the four types of transceivers. © 2009 IEEE.
