Abstract
According to the World Food Program (2024), A total of 23.4 million people in The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are projected to be acutely food insecure, and an estimated 2.8 million children are acutely malnourished. The implication of this is exposure to acute diseases, poverty, malnutrition, and even death. Poverty, climate change, inflation, war, and conflict are the foundation causes of world hunger, and all these factors plague the DRC. Nevertheless, countries such as Zambia have adopted the Action Against Hunger program to mitigate chronic malnutrition and other effects of hunger. This study assesses the implications of hunger and malnutrition globally, but also specifically address this issue in the United States and the DRC. This study also seeks to evaluate the Action Against Hunger policy and recommend to the DRC how to address the issue of world hunger plaguing its society.
