Road Salt and its Effects on Iowan Waterways

Presentation Type

Poster Presentation

Abstract

Road salt is used heavily in Iowa in the winter and runs off into waterways. It is expected that additional salt added to our waterways is problematic. This project will address and assess how much road salt is actually used, what its effects are, and what other alternatives might be. To conduct this project, I will be using data from sources such as the State of Iowa and experiences and observations from water researchers.
