Abstract

This study examined the effects of arousal and mood type on emotional contagion. 29 groups of students interacted with a confederate on a group decision making task. Groups that included the "good mood" confederate reported more positive moods, did better on the task, and reported greater group cohesion than groups with a confederate displaying a bad mood. Arousal had no effect on any of the measures.
