Abstract
We investigated college students' reactions to illegal and legal interview questions. Do college students perceive illegal interview questions differently than legal interview questions? 53 undergraduate students were involved in the study. The students completed a survey about questions asked in job interviews. The students rated legality, fairness, job relatedness, and their likelihood to answer the questions honestly. Participants were more likely to perceive illegal job questions as unfair, not job related and illegal. There was no significant difference in the intention to answer questions honestly regardless of legality.
