Abstract
To date, there is little information to validate the newly developed Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) and Child Depression Inventory (CDI). Prior validation used high school children but did not include the target population, psychiatric inpatient children. The goals of the present study were to examine:(]) internal consistency, (2) test-retest reliability, and (3) convergent and discriminant validity of the MASC and CDI Participants were boys and girls, ages 8 to 14, whom had been given a range of DSM diagnoses. They completed two self-report measures; the 39-item MASC and the 27-item Child Depression Inventory (CDI), to determine if these measures can distinguish between individuals with high and low levels of anxiety and depression. Results will demonstrate any limitations of the two measures.
