Abstract
This research project focuses primarily on the impacts of the Speak Mandarin Campaign on Singapore's Chinese ethnic majority. After giving some relevant background information, my project presents the many complex reasons behind the Speak Mandarin Campaign. It points out the reactions of the Chinese to this campaign, as well as touching upon the reactions of the ethnic minorities. Next, an analysis is given on whether the campaign was successful in meeting the associated goals. Finally, the relevance of this campaign to both the present and the future is presented in the conclusion.
