UNI COVID-19 Community Archive

Special Collections & University Archives launched a community archiving project to document experiences of the UNI and broader Cedar Valley community during the coronavirus outbreak of 2020 (COVID-19). Students, faculty and staff, and community members throughout the Cedar Valley were invited to submit stories, reflections, links, photographs, videos, and other files that capture their experience relating to COVID-19 using a google form. SC&UA began accepting submissions in May 2020, and submissions were welcome through spring 2024.

SC&UA believed that it was important to document this situation as it unfolded so that future researchers will be able to look back and understand decisions and changes that were made, big and small, and more generally to contextualize what people went through in the era of COVID-19. SC&UA aimed to capture stories from students, faculty, staff, and folks throughout the community in a variety of formats that reflect the array of challenges and moments of hope and creative (virtual) togetherness that we experienced.
