Project Summary

Women Belong in Baseball was founded in 2015 to raise awareness and increase opportunities for girls and women in baseball. Baseball is still a male-dominated sport in terms of player participation, coaching, umpiring, and front office. Despite the barriers over 100,000 girls play baseball in the United States. We support girls and women participating in baseball including playing, front office, coaching, scouting, umpiring, managing and journalism/media. Women Belong in Baseball utilizes an active social media presence, podcast, and web site including blog. Through these communication channels, WBIB educates, informs, and celebrates the achievements of women and girls in baseball. The newest effort of WBIB is forming a professional women working in baseball association. The association is envisioned to provide opportunities for women working in baseball and women who want to work in baseball to network, mentor, and participate in educational opportunities.
