    Transcription: Effigy Mounds National Park. Effigy Mounds, 2017, Iowa. Effigy Mounds National Monument overlooks the Mississippi River in Northeastern Iowa. It preserves more than 200 earthen mounds made by indigenous cultures between 1400 and 750 BC. Most of these burial mounds are in the shape of animals, such as bears and birds.
