Abstract

It has become evident that a transformation in the manner in which humans experience the natural environment needs to occur. As stewards of the earth, we need to create a balance between opportunities for urban growth and industrial development, and resource management. These changes can only occur through a transformation of philosophical and theoretical theory in terms of understanding ecological and spiritual principles, We need to not only continue to employ conservation methodology, but develop a sacred awareness, a spiritual understanding of for the earth, which is shared and practiced by many indigenous groups around the world, This study seeks to understand the developing trend of cultural tourism and heritage management, and how a relationship between culture and tourism have led to environmental resolutions for our natural environment. Furthermore, the study explores the sacred nature of World Heritage sites around the world and how spirituality within the leisure experience can facilitate conservation and preservation.
