Abstract

When examining the United States economy, it is crucial to consider the immigrant population within the labor force. This paper analyzes the determinants of employment status among immigrants. A logistic regression analysis was conducted using data collected across the United States to identify possible explanations for the observed variations. In this model, I selected variables based on past research and theories that indicated their significance. To explain immigrant employment status, I tested variables including sex, age, race, citizenship, years in the United States, English proficiency, and educational attainment. The results show that some variables are statistically significant; however, there are disparities in the coefficients for a few variables that contradict previous research.
