UNI REAP Apprenticeship Program

UNI REAP Apprenticeship Program

This is a collection of works by students participating the U.S. Army Education Outreach Program (AEOP) Research & Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) at the University of Northern Iowa. UNI didn't participate in the program in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

REAP places talented high school students in summer research apprenticeships at area colleges and universities. UNI REAP apprentices work on a hands-on research project under the direct supervision of a faculty mentor from one of UNI's STEM Departments. Apprentices work together and with resource people across campus to build leadership and professional skills. Apprentices conclude their experience by presenting their project at the College of Humanities Arts & Sciences Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Each year, over 120 students participate in REAP nationwide more than 40 participating universities. Approximately 90% of the REAP interns pursue STEM studies at the post-secondary level.
