Abstract

The people who live in our community are more diverse from each other than at any time in our history. They are diverse not only in the areas of race and ethnicity, but also in the areas of sexual preference, physical ability and disability, income levels, age, religion, and family constellation.

How can we as a community work collaboratively to bring about not only tolerance but acceptance, inclusion, and celebration of the diversity of our people? What can we do to make certain that harsh and destructive polarization, alienation, exclusion, and isolation does not occur and that inclusion, involvement, engagement, and empowerment of all people does?
