Abstract
Prior to the process of building consensus, it is valuable to consider the opinions and expectations of participants.
Religion is of primary and increasing importance in forming our view of the world and in our relationships to others. Information, and our confidence in that information, are primary factors in formatting of our views about the institutions in society and public education in particular.
Trust and respect often serve as translators in the consensus equation. The more diverse the beliefs are among participants, the more important trust and respect are to the process of consensus building and maintenance.
